Short visit to Dublin, Ireland

Today we met Joy's tour group and rode from the ship into Dublin. At Trinity College we got off and found a Hop On Hop Off bus so we could learn more about the city and also get to Guinness.  Our time was short in Dublin and it is such a large city so we had to make the most of the time we had there.

Samuel Beckett bridge is only 2 years old -- was built in Holland and transported to Dublin.

The story about all the colorgul doors in Dublin......after the death of the Queen Elizabeth England ordered the citizens of Ireland (which was still under british rule) to paint all of their doors black in mourning of the queen.  The Irish rebelled and painted their doors many bright colors, and the tradition has stuck.

Lot's of pubs...
and beautiful churches.
We spent the last part of our time in Dublin at the Guinness Storehouse which provided a self guided educational tour about the process of making beer....

And the very specialized methods of serving it.  You pour the glasses about 3/4 full and then after a couple of minutes, the beer becomes less opaque and you top it off.
You could not go to Guinness and not drink some beer!
We enjoyed the view from 7 stories up at the top of Guinness and then met the bus back to the ship.  "Chef's Table" tonight!
